WorldYogaDay Malaika Arora: Yoga has helped me heal holistically

Anyone who has followed Malaika Arora’s trajectory would know that the actress-turned-entrepreneur, over the last four years, has channelled every ounce of her energy to turn her passion into her profession.

Her progress in the space of health and wellness is known and acknowledged. As a yoga practitioner for several years now, Malaika swears by the practice and believes that it has helped her in more than one.

Talking about it on World Yoga Day, Malaika says, “Well, yoga is a way of life for me because the one hour I spend on the mat literally guides my 23 hours off it. It has helped me heal holistically. By holistic, I mean, I have become physically, mentally, emotionally & spiritually healthier over a period of time.

And I also genuinely believe that alternative healthcare will become the future of healthcare. Why would you cure it when you can prevent it? I think yoga is one such amazing tool for prevention. Yoga is like a box of treasure, you can keep on unlocking its wealth at every stage along your way. It's that boon that can change your life like nothing else.

I have reaped many benefits of yoga ever since I started practicing it. It has changed my body and has brought peace to my life. The best part about yoga is that you don't just see results on the outside, but it heals you from within.”

Back in 2019, when Malaika was planning to open her first yoga studio in the city, she had a lot running on her mind. With time, not only have the studios increased in number, but she has also used social media platforms and other means to reach out to as many people in the country as possible and make them aware of the importance of health and fitness

Talking about it, Malaika says, “Doors opened for me gradually, and today, I am so entrenched in the food, health, and wellness spaces. It’s my calling, I love it and I am passionate about it. I want to expand my knowledge and horizons there. I started my company with that idea. We’re far from being a multi-million company, but if you don’t start, you will not reach anywhere.

People had preconceived notions - they saw me as a pretty face, and wondered what I could really do. I was just someone in the glamour world for them. Four years later, it feels nice to be able to achieve something and make the same people see things differently. When I look around, I find women who are doing this all the time.

I am proud of them, too. I started in the summer of 2019, and even during a time when people were struggling, my team and I managed to plan for the future. We’re gearing up to take things to the next level. I firmly believe that there are no shortcuts… either you go all the way or don’t start at all!”
